Fun Friday

Dear Gage,

Today, Daddy went to shoot guns with Brian so you and I went to town. I decided to check out a yard sale on Steeplechase way and then go to the park. The yard sale was an estate sale and I wanted to take a look at the furniture. We're getting the carpet laid in two weeks upstairs so we need to start thinking about furnishing it. The sale advertised furniture and a bunk bed set. The suit came with a dresser, mirror, chest and the bunk beds all for $225. That is a very reasonable price, but they weren't in the color I was wanting. And besides, we haven't even carpeted upstairs yet. We'd have no place to put the furniture.

We went to Kereiakes park and went for a walk. You in your Jeep stroller and me pushing you along. After about 5 minutes of walking, I decided to start a little jog. I jogged and you slept. We went three laps to equal 3.75 miles covered. I jogged at a very snail like pace for a little over 3 miles and it felt really good. Your brother was also a good rider and seemed to sleep the whole way too :)

Snoozing in the Jeep. Riding for 3.75 miles is exhausting work.
After our run, we went to Subway to have lunch. You got a turkey and provolone on wheat and I got the veggie patty on wheat. You didn't care much for the bread and instead ate the turkey, cheese and pickles. You also helped me eat my chips and you finished you entire pouch of apples.

When we were finished eating, I wanted to change my clothes so we could run some errands. As I lifted you out of the high chair, I noticed you had had an accident. A very big accident. I gathered up our things and went to the restroom. As I was getting ready to see how bad the mess was I noticed there was no changing table! Agh. Since I had planned to change my clothes anyway, I used my running clothes as a mat for the floor and then proceeded to clean you up. It was at least a 10 wipe job and you needed the fresh pair of clothes in your back pack. I'm glad I was prepared :)

Once we got home from our errands, I got you changed into your swim diaper and shorts and we went to play in the little pool. You splashed around, played basketball, and had a great time :)

I went and got Sissy this evening and when we got back we ate a yummy taco dinner. After dinner we watched a movie and ate popcorn. Tonight was the first time you've ever had popcorn and you loved it! You had both hands in the bowl and you were a little overprotective with the bowl. But you eventually shared and were a good boy.

We had a great Friday! Thank you for being such a good boy!

First Kiss

Dear Gage,

Last Thursday, the Salyer family came over to our house for a visit. We had a nice cookout, followed by a bon fire and S'Mores. You and Emma played so well together! You both shared toys and took turns on the swings and slide. At the fire, you tried to show off by throwing sticks in the fire, but we kept you distracted with a few fireworks and roasted marshmallows. When the evening came to a close and it was time for Emma to leave, we were giving out hugs. I told you to give Emma a kiss, thinking it would be on the cheek, and you went right in for the lips! You sort of looked around first to make sure it was ok, and then proceeded with an open mouth kiss!  Dustin wasn't particularly pleased and I'm pretty sure you got a disapproving look :) We're going to have to make sure to keep an eye on you two when you get older!

Sliding

Dear Gage,

I recorded a couple of videos of you sliding on your new (used) playground. You started sliding all by yourself, without a hand or assistance. You were doing really well until you had a little mishap. The first video shows what happened. I promise, you weren't injured during this take. You were more scared than anything. The second video is shot minutes after the first. You're a little hesitant about the slide, but you sucked it up and went your own way!

I love you,

Excited for Elmo

Dear Gage,

You really love to watch Sesame Street and your favorite segment of the show is Elmo's World. You get so excited when the song comes on and you drop whatever you're playing with to give your full attention to Elmo. You have recently started saying "Elmo," so of course I had to get a little video.

I love you,

Handy Daddy

Dear Gage,

We recently acquired an old hand-me-down playground. The swing set portion of it was falling apart, but the tower and slide were it pretty decent shape. Your handy Daddy pressure washed the tower and hardware and then stained the wood. Since the swing set frame was in such bad shape, Daddy replaced it all with some new treated lumber from Home Depot. After three days of hard work, Daddy got the playground in working order. You gave it a test run and you approve! You love the swings and have recently started going down the big slide all by yourself! Way to go Daddy!

Two years ago, your Daddy built us two picnic tables. I thought it would be neat to have one that's your size, so Daddy found a blue print online and went right to work. Within an hour, you had your very own Gage sized picnic table! Daddy is just so handy!

Just the perfect size :)

SOKY fair

Dear Gage,

We went to the SOKY fair on Friday with the Salyer family. It was a hot night, but once the sun went down, it became tolerable. We took Jett with us as well and he had such a great time. You and Emma were just a little too small to ride any of the rides this year, but you really enjoyed watching the people! Daddy and Dustin rode on the Remix while Jett and Amanda rode on the strawberry twirl. Jett loved the Fun Slide and he got Daddy to ride once, and even me. We played some of the games and won several prizes. Daddy won a little beanie dog for you, while Jett won a beanie dog, framed Avengers picture and a stuffed bull dog. He was really proud of his bull dog!

We feasted on fair food and watched the demolition derby. You weren't really sure what to think about the crashing cars, but you watched with deep fascination. Jett got some cotton candy, and he and Emma dug right in while you watched. It took you a minute, but you started to like it too! We all had a really great time this year at the fair and I think once you can ride the rides, you'll like it even more.
