Balloons, Tunes and BBQ 2013

Dear Gage and Gabe,

A couple weekends ago, we went to the Balloons, Tunes and BBQ festival at the Bowling Green Airport. They had a huge set up full of carnival rides, bouncing houses, food, entertainment and tethered balloon rides. We spent the first hour or so letting you Gage ride the carnival rides with your cousin KD. You rode the airplanes, the cars and the train. You rode down the slide with Daddy and on the Ferris Wheel with me. The operator forgot to let us off after our first round on the Ferris Wheel, so we got to go twice! You kept asking/saying, "We're up high Mommy. Are we up high?" The things you say are quite entertaining.

After riding rides, we made our way over to the bounce houses. There were about 10 to 12 different bounce houses and they were all different. There was a dinosaur house, a small slide, a Cars house, a basketball house, an obstacle course house, a giant Titanic, and others. You loved the obstacle course house the best. I went through with you the first time to help you navigate the different obstacles, but after that you were on your own. You played and played and jumped and jumped for nearly 2 hours.

The line to the tethered balloon rides had started to dwindle down, so we decided to make a go for it. While we were waiting in line, we saw the balloon glow. The announcer counted down from ten and then all the balloons lit their fires and glowed in the dark. It was really neat! We were about 10 people from the front of the line and the attendant put up a rope. No more balloon rides! We were a bit devastated, as one of the main reasons we went on Friday night was for the balloon rides. But I wasn't upset for too long because I knew you had so much fun and had no idea what you missed. We grabbed a bite to eat and then let you jump for a few more minutes. We had a really great time and look forward to the fun next year!

Happy 9 Months, Gabe!!

Dear Gage and Gabe,

Earlier this month, Gabe you turned 9 months old! We took you to see Dr. Chris today for your 9 month check up. The nurse weighed you and measured your length and head circumference. You weighed in at a whopping 18lbs 1oz and measured 30.25 inches long! I can't believe how big you've gotten. You have grown so much since your last appointment. Dr. Chris came in shortly after to do the check up. He checked your ears, checked your eyes, found out how much you'd grown ("time for you check up"). He listened to your heartbeat... (chime Doc McStuffins song). He was very pleased with your growth, even if you are on the slim side. You're following the growth curve right about 20th on weight and over 90th on height! You were a very good boy today and didn't even cry when the nurse took a little blood to check your iron. I'm so proud of you!

Gage, 9 months - 10/28/11

I love you both,
